Hilary J. O’Connor
Hilary is a real estate and business transactions attorney with over 25 years of experience in all aspects of real estate, including leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, development, construction, financing and asset and property management issues. Hilary has focused a significant amount of her practice on shopping center and mixed use development matters, with a particular emphasis on retail leasing. Having represented landlords and tenants of all sizes, Hilary provides practical, efficient representation balancing the need to protect a client’s interest while still getting the deal done. She brings this approach to all of her transactional matters, understanding that her role is to find creative solutions to problems and move deals forward productively. Hilary has also advised clients on a variety of day-to-day issues that arise for owners and operators of retail and mixed-use projects.
About me.
Prior to law school, Hilary began her career at T. Rowe Price, where she worked in customer service and business operations. After law school, Hilary parlayed her business experience into a transactional practice focused in real estate and general business matters, including 14 years at Baltimore-based Rosenberg Martin Greenberg, LLP, where she became a partner and member of the management committee. From 2015 until June, 2022, Hilary served as Regional General Counsel for Kimco Realty Corporation, a publicly traded REIT that develops, owns and manages open air shopping centers and mixed-use developments, where she was responsible for overseeing a staff of 9 and the legal work for approximately 165 centers in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Puerto Rico.
Hilary received her BSBA from the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond, a MBA in management from Loyola University and a JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Hilary is a member of the Real Property Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, where she served as Section Chair from 2008–2009.
When not practicing law, Hilary enjoys spending time with her family and hiking, biking and birding.
